How To Wash A BMW 3 Series Without Damaging The Paint
Date Published
Use a safe wash routine from the first rinse
Start with a thorough pre-rinse to knock off loose grit from the bumper, rocker panels, and wheels. A foam pre-wash helps soften road film before any contact is made with the paint.
Reduce swirl marks with the two-bucket method
Wash from the roof down using a quality mitt, one bucket with shampoo, and one rinse bucket with a grit guard. Leave the lower doors and rear bumper for last since they collect the heaviest contamination.
Dry with a plush towel or filtered air dryer instead of dragging water across the surface. This is especially important on dark BMW paint, where fine wash marks show up quickly in direct light.
